Funny, this looks very like the French question that appears immediately before yours on my version of ProZ:
http://www.proz.com/kudoz/french_to_english/transport_transp...
I assume it means something like "creating separate lanes".

bus only lane//bus lane construction

Explanation:
Two types of bus lane

Two types of lane are provided for buses. They are bus only lanes, or bus lanes:
Bus only lane

Bus only lanes are for the exclusive use of buses.

Bus only lanes are sign-posted or marked as bus only lanes. No other vehicles are permitted to travel or stop in a bus-only lane. The only exceptions are authorised special purpose vehicles. A continuous white line generally separates a bus only lane from a general traffic lane.

Intersections incorporating a bus only lane generally display a "B" on the traffic signals to give buses priority over general traffic.
Bus lane

Bus lanes are sign-posted or marked as bus lanes. They are provided primarily for buses, but can also be used by:

Taxis.
Hire cars (but not rental cars).
Motorcycles and bicycles.
Emergency vehicles.
Special purpose vehicles and vehicles also operated by or under the direction of Roads and Maritime Services.

General traffic is also permitted to travel in a bus lane for up to 100 metres to:

Turn left or right into or out of a street.
Enter or leave a property adjacent to the bus lane.
Pass another vehicle that has stopped to turn right or to avoid an obstruction.

A bus lane or bus-only lane is a lane restricted to buses, often on certain days and times, and generally used to speed up public transport that would be otherwise held up by traffic congestion. Bus lanes are a key component of a high-quality bus rapid transit (BRT) network, improving bus travel speeds and reliability by reducing delay caused by other traffic.

Aspen bus lane construction begins

ASPEN ” With one road construction project about to be completed, another one is beginning at the Entrance to Aspen.

Monday marks the official beginning of the construction of exclusive bus lanes between Buttermilk and the roundabout, which is expected to take six months.

Construction along the 1.2-mile stretch on the outskirts of town is expected to be finished by October, said Rick Everist, spokesman for Castle Rock Construction, the Denver-based firm handling the project.

The Maroon Creek Bridge, which has been under construction for the past three years, is set to be complete by June 4. But because of the construction, the new bridge won’t be opened until later in the month and will be used for diverting traffic from the upvalley lanes.

public transport-only lane

I think the term "confinamiento de carril" means limiting the lane to; as in "bus-only" or in this case, just for public transport.
Example of the term:
]Shareholder Structure
files.shareholder.com/downloads/AMDA.../ICA_Dia_de_Infraestructura_Parte4.pdf
political or other conditions in Mexico, Latin America or elsewhere, changes in capital markets in general that ..... It will also have a public transport-only lane to.

Efectivamente confinado es solo para remarcar que no lo puedes usar como conductor de auto particular o mejor dicho es SOLO PARA EL TRANSPORTE PUBLICO.

Thanks, Phil.
agree Michael Powers (PhD) : nice - I was going to put "public transport-only lane enclosure" but it is understood without "enclosure"

protected lane / lane protection

I think this refers to lanes that aren't simply bus-only lanes but those protected with some kind of physical barrier to stop other vehicles invading them.

In Mexico City over the past 20 years, many of these lanes have been implemented for the "Trolebús" and "Metrobús" programme, but they've also implemented some for cyclists, most notably in Paseo de la Reforma. These works have now spread to cities in other states.
Some are protected simply by low plastic bollards bolted to the ground, while others have actual concrete kerbs. I'd translate it as "protected lane for public transport/transportation", which I suppose could conceivably include public bicycles too (which are rented from cycle stations dotted all over the city centre).

Protected bus lanes
Protected bus lanes use curbed buffers or bollards to separate the bus network from the other travel lanes. These lanes are often placed in the center of the street. Separated lanes encourage prioritization of transit at signals and can be shared with bicyclists. Center-located bus lanes typically have faster speeds, as they are not slowed by right-turning traffic, but they usually require limiting left turns.

setting aside (public transport only) lanes

A bus lane is a traffic lane set aside for buses only, or sometimes buses and taxis. There is currently a row going locally on about whether or not parking should be allowed in the bus/taxi lanes at night:

Example sentence:

A bicycle lane is a narrow traffic lane set aside on a road for the use of cyclists.

The van turns and heads out to Launch Complex 39A ...using a special traffic lane set aside for them.
