French term

coffrage hors profil

French to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering gros oeuvre
This is the demolition/structural works part of a bid for a refurbishment project.

2.3.2.1 Massif pour fondations bât. A

Semelle isolé
Fouilles en trous
Enlevement évacuations des terres
Béton
Gros béton
Coffrage hors profil
Aciers HA

So I get that the formwork is outside the profile, but try as I might, I can't find a term in English that throws up enough ghits to convince me. I have tried "out-of-profile" and a host of other possibilities, read up and learnt a lot about formwork, but haven't found the (maybe obvious) solution.

Many thanks for your help.

contingencies Not a construction expert but I agree with Nikki's two possibilities. As to the first, EN construction bids usually include as a cost item an allowance for "contingency" or "contingencies." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cost_contingency
Nikki Scott-Despaigne Jul 9, 2017:
Maybe cat among the pigeons There are members here who are way better qualified than I am in construction. However, have you considered different meanings for "hors profil" here?

http://www.universalis.fr/dictionnaire/hors-profil/
(masculine noun, plural: hors-profil)
"en travaux publics, partie d'un ouvrage qui sort des côtes du plan d'architecte"

http://www.granddictionnaire.com/ficheOqlf.aspx?Id_Fiche=170...
"Définition
Parties d'une excavation débordant du profil théorique défini par le cahier des charges.
Notes
Les hors-profil ne sont payés à l'entrepreneur que lorsque, compte tenu de la nature du terrain, ils restent dans une proportion raisonnable, en général de 5 à 10 p. 100. "
EN: overbreak, backbreak

If it is excess from drilling and excavation, given "enlèvement excavation des terres", I'm wondering if you have the ST meaning clear.

So (i) either the "coffrage" was not intended/covered in the original brief; or (ii) maybe it is this excess from excavation. Like I say, Not my area. Anyone else?
Diego Delfino Jul 9, 2017:
I think your solutions are good enough Since there are no ghits if you try with "coffrage hors profil"

special formwork

I wonder if it is the formwork to cast special shapes as opposed to simple or standard shapes, whatever a simple or standard shape might be in the context of the project. Anything in the document that might point in this direction?

Best wishes.
