Spanish term

Juzgado Nacional de Primera Instancia en lo Civil

Spanish to English Social Sciences Law (general) Nota de rectificiación

Gracias!!

National Civil Court of First Instance

I think you should translate the title of the Argentine court, rather than look for South African equivalents.
Peer comment(s):

agree AllegroTrans : Yes, but retain the Spanish title and put this explanation in square brackets; and definitely not a S. African "equivalent" - completely different legal system

disagree AllegroTrans : (a) the Court is not in S. Africa (b) the Court does not have magistrates (c) you should not try to "localise" the names of courts etc. in this way, the two systems being totally different

agree Sandro Tomasi : I believe that a translation specific for SA is fine. The only thing to see is if the Argentine court exceeded the monetary limit of the SA court, then it would not be good to call it a Magistrate’s Court. But I agree w/ your ref, it may be useful.
