En Argentina, el término custodia judicial se refiere a la tutela temporaria de un menor por parte de un juez o juzgado hasta que se le asigne un tutor o padre adoptivo definitivo. Cuál sería el equivalente en inglés?

After searching on the web, while there's isn't a term of art for this since this is not a custom in the US (let alone any anglosaxon jurisdiction), probably best to render as "child custody by (the) judge"

wardship / ward of court
In the UK, and in the Republic of Irelend (and quite likely in some other English-speaking jurisdictions), a child can be made a "ward of court", which is approximately equivalent to the situation described in the question here.
The precise term in English will depend on the sentence structure.

If the judge decides that the child is unsafe, the court takes responsibility for the child, and the child becomes a "ward" of the court.

: Acc. to your Collins ref. ward of court is “a person ... placed under the control ... or of a court.” So how can it be the court? I like “wardship,” but IMO you need a modifier. Perhaps “judicial wardship”?

: Police custody means that a person is under physical restraint by the police. Judicial custody, which I've never heard of, could be when an inmate is brought to ct. for a hearing and bailiffs are responsible for his physical cust. Here we need legal cust.
