French term

perforations Richelieu

French to English Marketing Textiles / Clothing / Fashion
Shoe description.

Whole sentence: "Derbies à lacets en cuir Box marron foncé avec perforations Richelieu"

Stumped on 'perforations Richelieu' and not having much luck with sources.

Thank you in advance!

Oxford perforations

A Richelieu is an Oxford brogue - which is normally opposed to a Derby. So maybe the perforations are in an Oxford style? Seems oddly truncated tho. Could it be several descriptions run together in error?

Thank you! :)

agree philgoddard : You beat me to it, but I'll leave my answer as it has a reference.

agree Charles Davis : A Richelieu is an Oxford, brogue or not. This seems to be a Derby (a shoe with open lacing) with Oxford-style broguing (perforation), whatever that is (perhaps the rosette pattern on the toecap?)

Oxford perforations

"In France, Oxfords are known as Richelieu."
Perforations are the rows of decorative dots, but you probably know that.
I'm not sure how Oxford perforations differ from any other type of perforation.
