Spanish term

Edad: M de E

Spanish to English Law/Patents Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs birth certificate
In a birth certificate from Mexico, there is a section "Witnesses" which has a field "Edad." I am not sure what the "M de E" stands for as the age for the witness.

Thank you in advance.

Age: of legal age [mayor de edad]

Well it's not a very helpful abbreviation, as presumably it's either "mayor de edad" or "menor de edad"!
However, I think it must be "mayor de edad", because as far as I know, minors are allowed to act as legal witnesses.
Perhaps the person was clearly an adult, but was unable to provide evidence of exact age.

*Correction [thx Tom!]: "as far as I know, minors are NOT allowed to act as legal witnesses".

agree Thomas Walker : I assume you meant "...minors are NOT allowed to act..."

Yes, Tom, thanks for correcting me!
agree Charles Davis : In earlier times people often didn't know exactly how old they were; in the seventeenth-century documents I used to study it often says "60 años poco más o menos", for example.

Thanks, Charles, yes, I've actually seen an example of that with an elderly relative, who very late in life discovered she was in fact a few years older than she had believed.
