I'm guessing this means taking the lambs to market/removal of the lambs for slaughter but I'm not sure. And I can't think of a simple way to put it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Wendy. I think removal is what they're talking about, so that the ewes can get back into production or be rebred.

Farming in the Antipodes I agree with bohy. I can't think of a noun but farmers talk of turning lambs out to pasture or putting them out to pasture.

le printemps en Australie... C'est le moment où on commence à mettre les agneaux (nés en hiver austral) au pré. A moins qu'on les vende comme agneaux de lait, c'est la phase normale de l'élevage. Donc je pense qu'il s'agit de les sortir DEHORS.

I thought that this could be a possibility too, Wendy. More akin to weaning, but then I think they would have said "sevrer". Not necessarily destined for market. But I'd need the term commonly used in sheep production.
