embankment/barrier of the pass
Digue means a dam. Col means the lowest point between two peaks, which is also termed as pass. The easiest way to construct a dam is to build a dam joining the two peaks by an embankment or barrier which results in a dam. This contains the water on one side and allows the water to flow through weirs that are provided in the dam.
