Anyone have any suggestions as to how to translate the phrase “あと1件客先に行ったら帰る”? in the sentence “あと1件客先に行ったら帰る”と母と電話で話した数十分後のことだった. Not sure how "1件客" fits in. The context is that a son is telling his mother his father has had an accident.

This pharase should be divided as follows;
あと1件 / 客先 / に行ったら
It means "after visiting (に行ったら) one more (あと1件) client/customer (客先)". This sentence is saying "I will go home after visiting one more client".

I think it was the phrase told by "father" who had an accident. The accident happened after the father said this. The son may be telling the situation. A middle school student does not say this by himself.

Note from asker:
Thanks for this. I originally thought it might be something like this - but there is a catch! The son is 中学生. Therefore I assume he is not working or seeing clients. Could the sentence refer to what the father himself did before he had an accident? |
That makes sense. Thanks. |
