The entire document is basically a list of changes that have been made to the cranes operating system, written in "short hand" and with much creative writing freedom :(. The phrases before and after only describe a different change that has been implemented. I am going to use "volume poti". I already have flagged it to the PM.

I don't know. More context might help - what is this about, apart from cranes, and what does it say before and after this?
I'm not even sure I understand the syntax of the sentence, or what Vorschub means.

Hi Phil, Correction: most of the hits are about the smoke factory cable remote. None of the hits led me to find the English term. I know that poti is potentiometer. What I don't know is how do I translate "Mengen-" here? What is a Mengenpotentiometer?

The first few Google hits are about smoke machines, but there are others after that. Poti is potentiometer.

Vorschub could be 'advance' or advancement, like in 'Vorschub leisten'
Purely guessing, though.

Calibration potentiometer

I'm inclined away from volume in this case, because there are google hits for "volume potentiometer" and they all refer to potentiometers used to set (audio) volume.

There are various google hits for "calibration potentiometer", including in smoke machines and engines, ie similar uses to the Mengenpoti, but I really can't find anything conclusive, so "just a guess".

(there are a number of dictionaries saying that the German for calibration pot. is Eichpotentiometer, but I don't have any German ghits actually using Eichpotentiometer, so I'm inclined to disbelieve the dictionaries for practical purposes)
