Pour les produits que le consommateur peut voir, soit de l’extérieur, soit de l’intérieur du magasin, la réglementation prévoit que le vendeur a le choix du mode de publicité à utiliser : étiquette ou panonceau... l’étiquette ne doit être utilisée que lorsque l’acheteur a la possibilité de prendre le produit en main, sans avoir à demander préalablement l’accord du vendeur. A l’inverse, l’écriteau s’impose
pour les produits vendus au poids ou à la mesure.

La loi française mentionne "étiquette" et "écriteau". Parmi les synonymes: affiche, affichette, pancarte, placard...

Basic logic dictates that "shelf posters" CAN NOT be the same as "Shelf PI Labels"

otherwise there would be simply nothing to compare!

In some supermarkets you do have "posters" [roughly A5 / A4 size] on top or above the shelves (visible from several meters) where you can see the price and a short description of the product, while "Shelf PI Labels" are near the product, and readable only in close proximity. In which case the price you see next to the product on the shelf should be the same as the price on the "poster" meant to attract attention from a distance ...

OTOH I have no idea what is the right term in retailer's jargon for these "shelf posters".
