drafted player

English to Spanish Other Sports / Fitness / Recreation Beisbol
This is a contract for baseball players and there are some terms specific to the field that I would like the correct term in Spanish. I know what it means in English but need the Spanish term. Thanks in advance for all your help.

I agree with Marcelo, a player can only be drafted once, after that they are 'traded'... FWIW, in association football, "fichado = traded".

My understanding of this term as it relates to... ...baseball, at least, is that a player is "drafted" only once (as I mention in my edited agree to John´s suggestion). Then, once the player is in the system, he might be traded or ´signed´ (or "picked up on waivers") by another team.

Well in that case it's difficult to know whether or not it applies to a "college draft" - "selección universitaria" or from another league...

More context and target country-dialect would be needed.

For Spain, "fichado" would certainly work here.

E.g.,

En 1947, comenzó a jugar en las ligas principales, ***tras ser fichado*** por los Yankees, y se convirtió en un símbolo del deporte al que dedicó toda su vida.
