Solid Particle Protection
To protect the internal distributors and tubes of the CWHE from debris, strainers in the inlet pipes of the relevant fractions for liquid and vapour service have to be considered:

The strainers have to be located close to the CWHE.
Resulting pressure drops have to be considered in the plant design during detail engineering.


*CWHEs have to be kept dry and shielded inert during shut downs and maintenance adequately to protect from corrosion of particles from carbon steel periphery to protect consequently from accumulation to larger parts that could block distributor holes and tubes within the CWHE.

In addition to the chapter 8, the following operating limits have to be considered for start-up, operation and shut down.

The mechanical design of the CWHE is based on criteria for non-oscillating conditions.
