English term

Agency undertakings

English to French Law/Patents Law: Contract(s) Public contracts
Bonjour,

Amendment 2: to cover the consequences of the delays in the provision to the contractor of agency undertakings under the contract

Non-PRO (1): AllegroTrans

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

@Asker That makes a lot of difference! It's important to know is that "Agency" is upper-case and is part of the Client's name, probably listed in the preamble as shorthand for its full name.
mimi 254 (asker) Aug 23, 2018:
No, the "agency" is in upper case. Unfortunately, the term only occurs in that sentence
B D Finch Aug 23, 2018:
Context? Is the "agency" meant to be in lower case? What is the agency and what contribution does it make to the work? For instance in the following:

the "Agency" is the European Space Agency = the Client

Given the additional information provided by the Asker, it is now clear that the "Agency", with a capital "A" is the Client. In fact, we even know which Agency it is, which we shouldn't, so I suggest the Asker might remove the identifying information from the Discussion post.

"Agence" would be capitalised in the contract if it is a shorthand term mentioned in the preamble.

The undertakings are contractual undertakings made by the Agency. So, if the Agency has made a contractual undertaking to provide e.g. site security or site accommodation and they fail to provide those things on time, then the consequence might be that the contractor can't start on site on the agreed date.
