French term

courtier

French to English Bus/Financial Real Estate Real Estate Personnel terminology
In a promotional document for an upmarket real estate agent in Switzerland. Context: "Un seul courtier, un seul rapport qui vous renseigne...", "Un seul courtier capable de toucher les clients...", "Le courtier dédié cherche pour vous...". I have found info about the situation in Quebec, and in France, but I need to know about Switzerland. Is there a difference there between an agent and a "courtier", does anyone know? Would "broker" be a good word, or would that be confusing because in England a broker appears to negotiate with several agencies for clients. Any help welcomed!

Thanks Thanks to all for your suggestions.

I think you're making things unnecessarily complicated. You just need a word meaning middleman, so broker, agent or intermediary would be fine. What they're called in England or Quebec is irrelevant.

personal agent

Hello

It's a bit of a predicament as for me, the person is still an estate agent. I don't like courtier or broker in English here. So you could perhaps use an adjective instead, and "personal" seems to be what is described in French (seul courtier, courtier dédié)

estate (agent)

I have translated several Swiss docs using this term and often see'courtier' where the French might well use Agence immobilière.

agree writeaway : for UK English/yes, it's not clear whose Eng is needed. If it's UK, then this is it.

asker is in GB so I have assumed Brit EN
agree Daryo : sounds like an estate agent to me, even if they like to call themselves "courtier".
