English term

Steer compass - \"S\"

English to Spanish Science Ships, Sailing, Maritime Naval Form Terminology
Hi all,

Context:
The document is a log-navigation data sheet.
https://media.defense.gov/2017/Oct/23/2001830891/-1/-1/0/CG_...
The one I have is already filled in.
It´s a sheet where the information about a vessel has been written.

Under the steer compass column, there are some numbers, but also a letter "S" is written on some lines.

The term:
"S"

What could it mean? Or do you think I should just write it the same, since it might be a universal unit of measure?

Thank you for your help

Discussion

Andrés Barros (asker) Mar 8, 2019:
Questions Dear Taña and María,

Absolutely understand the "people will get fed up with you" and "are you serious". I've spoken with the client, who is clueless himself but will arrange for a person from the Navy to review the difficult terms after I've finished my part. I am nothing but grateful to all the experienced and knowledgable people who have helped me out. There shall be no more questions as of now for this document.
Are you serious, man? More than 30 questions in less than five hours?!?!?
Taña Dalglish Mar 7, 2019:
Andrés What are the numbers? latitude and longitude?. "S" > south, maybe? Andres, again, and Kirsten too is imploring that you contact the client and ask for a list of abbreviations. It is not your problem to be searching high and low for all of them (and people will get fed up too of helping you, especially when you are asking 15-20 questions a day, or whatever your limit is!).

Erratum:

Donde puse "Brújla" debe decir "Brújula"...

Y nadie debe olvidar que una "brújula" es una "viéjula montada en una escóbula"... (¡Seamos serios!)

Yes, important information about witches... :-))

You're welcome, Andrés. ;-)
