And "colaboradores" has a slightly difference from "empregados". It says that the company somehow values them more than just a machinery workforce. From PT>EN I would use employees, but from EN>PT this may be somehing to consider. Colaboradores é "politicamente correto".
I hope this may help. =)

For the general context, the employee is probably referring to the social and financial benefits that the company provides, such as good health insurance, meals and transportations services, bonus, and so on.
The expression "com muito peito" here is used at a very informal level of speech, as if the company would take on all the world to treat its employees as well as possible, to defend them from harm. It is good to remember that Brazil has been facing a huge economic crisis and that many factories had to let go of their employees. I don't know if this particular company was affected by the crisis but most of the big ones were.
Thank you Livia. Your comments are very helpful! |

: Regardless of the need to keep this informal, I still find it an odd expression to use in this context.

I like this adjective here because, although we cannot literally use "peito" for the English version, this word has connotations closely related to such qualities of heart, mind and spirit.

You may be English native, but I am simply speaking from my own native experience, could be the US/UK difference - who know.....!
However, the point I am making is that using this term (although it is commonly used), is not normally used when you are talking about employee support and professional encouragement by a company. As I said, it could be ok, and may work, if used in an emphatic way to describe a company that has taken somebody's side, or defence if, for example, they are being accused of something bad, or have done something possibly wrong, or they are facing some sort of extreme adversity. This is the most common usage of this term, and it has this sort of nuance, and connotation, rather than just meaning provision of support and encouragement generally.
Synonyms are not always relevant unfortunately because, in my language, they often have a particular or a certain/contextual usage, meaning that they can sound odd if used in the wrong situation (ie. Out of place)..
I did not say this before because I thought you had decided not to use it, which would have been the best step in my opinion. (So could be used, but not the best choice in terms of nuance & connotation.)

Verb
Used other than as an idiom: see stand,"Ž behind.
(idiomatic) To support; express one's support
Here are some synonyms from the Internet: advocate, back, champion, endorse, get behind, plump for, recommend, side with, stand by, support, uphold.
Here are some synonyms for 'stand behind': advocate, back, champion, endorse, get behind, plump for, recommend, side with, stand by, support, uphold.
If you don't know, it would work to simply say "puts a lot into its employees...", because this is a common expression in English that suggests that a lot of "whatever" is being given to someone or a to a body.
Based on the comments, I'm thinking 'is sincerely dedicated to its employees'.
I would think about something like "puts his heart into..." but the rest really depends on the relationship with the "colabores" and who they are exactly.
