This is apparently a phrase of Kant's. Plenty of hits for it, in relation to belleza, on the internet, but I can't find the saying in English:

I think this is better than Sarah's suggestion because the repetition of "fin" emphasises the deliberate paradox of the German, which is probably "endlose Endlichkeit". I haven't found the original quote, but this does get quite a lot of hits.

"Endless finality" is less effective because the first word is Germanic in origin, and the second is Romance. This is not a problem in Spanish, of course.

Kant (!) find the quotation either, only relating to means or an end in itself. My suggestion makes for a nice soundbite but is this the meaning?!

I agree with Phil´s point, because I did wonder before whether it should have been "purposeless" instead of "endless" - "purposeless purposiveness". I think this may a more of a German>English translation problem.

In other words, purposeless purposiveness combines the two Causal types into a intention-effect relation.
