réservoir 2019 sur lequel une vérification de fissures certifiée vient d'être effectuée

The idea here is to certify that the tank has no crack.

Peer comment(s):

neutral B D Finch : It is testing for cracks, but I don't think that specifically applies to the fuel tank. Those are two separate points in the source text.

agree Platary (X) : Je pense bien qu'il s'agit de cela en effet !

neutral Tony M : Like BDF, I think this is 2 separate things: especially as it talks about a 'fuel bag tank', in which I'd have thought cracks were unlikely.

contrôle par ressuage

...réalisé par un laboratoire agréé

It seems likely this is about non-destructive testing (logically!), and I believe dye penetrant testing is the commonest method used.
Peer comment(s):

disagree B D Finch : This is only one of a number of NDT methods and if the source text is non-specific, the translation should be too.

Thanks, B! Very true: although I did find some instances of this specifically relating to this particular context...

Of very few mentions on the 'Net...

...this one seems to use the term without any reference to fuel tanks, seemingly corroborating BDF's idea that they are in fact 2 entirely separate things:

Again, this ref. seems to make it clear this is something quite different; and the mention of NDT makes me think this is about dye penetration testing:

Ken Gillanders is taking a batch of axles to a airframe certified crack-testing shop. He also has some ideas about polishing, peening and then heat-treating.
