From a section which looks at variations in pH levels over a 24-week period in which samples were submerged in an aqueous solution.
"Las muestras que contienen MWCNTs (multi-walled carbon nanotubes) son las que tienen un pH más parecido al inicial del PBS (phosphate buffer solution) (pH 7.2), el cuál va disminuyendo ***cuando lo hace su composición en nanotubos***."
(The brackets are mine, these terms have been used in English throughout).
I'm stuck with how to finish the sentence

I have contacted the client, she's been very helpful with a couple of previous doubts (admitting one was a typo and the other a case of her expressing herself badly) so hopefully she can clear this one up too!
I must admit, I did notice that isn't one of you fortes, do you want to pass me this client ;@)
I reckon it's worth asking the client/author, could well be an error and should read "descomponer", that would make more sense to me. Having said that, after a very brief look, I can't find any indications that PBS decomposes over time, but most things do, if you give them long enough - and 24 weeks is long enough...
This is counterintuitive as the purpose of PBS is to maintain the same pH.
??
Maybe it would make sense if it said "cuando se descompone en los nanotubos"?
But it doesn't!
