French term

LA GESTION FINANCIÈRE PAR HORIZON EN O.P.C.V.M

French to English Bus/Financial Finance (general)
This is found in a pension plan. On of the options for managing investments is: LA GESTION FINANCIERE PAR HORIZON EN O.P.C.V.M

I'm struggling with "par horizon" here. I understand that it means that the funds will be invested differently based on the time left until retirement, with "arbitrages" at the end of each horizon. How would this be expressed in English?

Discussion

Jane RM (asker) May 15, 2020:
I'm fine with the rest of the sentence, just horizon. It comes up a lot in the document, and I wasn't sure if horizon can be used like this in English, when taking about pension plans. I also have "horizon de gestion", "arbitrage (switch?) vers le nouvel horizon", changement d'horizon etc. Any help much appreciated, I'm a legal translator and so I'm not also 100% sure about financial terms
philgoddard May 15, 2020:
It means "for each horizon", but I'm not clear how much of the rest of the sentence you understand. Do you know what a horizon is, or what OPVCM is in English? Just wondering how detailed to make my answer.

French term (edited): LA GESTION FINANCIERE PAR HORIZON EN O.P.C.V.M

TARGET FISCAL/FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT/POLICY FOR/BY O.P.V.C.M

I'm assuming here that HORIZON is not the name of the entity or company. PAR HORIZON means targeted (possibly long-, or short-term) approach, as in target audience, for example. I do not know what OPCVM stands for, but you do not seem to be focusing on this, so I figure you already know it.

Sorry, there is a typo in the acronym. Should be O.P.C.V.M. as per the original.
Example sentence:

passive investment approaches ...and particularly target management, which is based on investment in a single fund (see above).

Peer comment(s):

neutral philgoddard : "Horizon" has a specific meaning in investment. Also, it doesn't say "fiscal".

If you read the notes, HORIZON is addressed. FISCAL is an alternative option, depending on the context.
neutral AllegroTrans : OPVCM isn’t difficult to find!

French term (edited): LA GESTION FINANCIERE PAR HORIZON EN O.P.C.V.M

the financial management by prospects at O.P.C.V.M.

I don't know what the abbreviation 'OPVCM' stands for either but it looks like the abbreviated name of a pensions company. I checked horizon in my dictionary and 'prospect' is one possible translation from French.
Example sentence:

l'horizon économique du pays

the country's economic prospects

Peer comment(s):

neutral AllegroTrans : OPCVM is a type of investment vehicle which would need the English acronyym and 'en' doesn't mean 'at' in this sentence

French term (edited): par horizon

for each horizon

Jane has confirmed in the discussion box that she knows what the rest of the sentence means. For what it's worth, OPCVM is UCITS in English.
