Spanish term

corte laminar

Spanish to English Medical Livestock / Animal Husbandry Mexican requirement for post-mortem inspection of pigs
"La NOM-009-ZOO-1994, especifica en el punto 8.2 que la inspección post mortem comprende:
Observación macroscópica, palpación de órganos, corte de músculos, corte laminar de nódulos linfáticos, de cabeza, vísceras y de la canal en caso necesario."

I believe 'corte' is translated as 'section' here but I can't find 'corte laminar' anywhere apart from in this text. I think it might be a thin section to be placed on a microscope slide but I do not know what it should be called and would appreciate some expert help!
Thank you

Karen Marston (asker) May 26, 2020:
Thank you all for your time and effort in helping me with this question, although I can only select one answer, all of your contributions have been very helpful in enabling me to understand this phrase and decide on the best translation for this context.
Muriel Vasconcellos May 25, 2020:
All slide sections are thin Any material mounted on a slide is going to be really thin. What seems to be the issue here is whether "laminar" refers to the slide itself or to the thickness of the cut. It seems clear to me that it's the former and that the term is necessary because the rest of the passage is referring to macro observation. Some indication is needed to show the shift to microscopic examination.
liz askew May 25, 2020:
Look at this too:

Muriel Vasconcellos May 25, 2020:
@Neil I agree. The "lamina" is unnecessary. However, in the asker's text, this is all incorrectly grouped under "macroscopic", so a transition is needed to show that the subject has shifted to microscopic.
neilmac May 25, 2020:
Agree I think ""corte laminar de nódulos linfáticos" would translate as "lymph node section" here.

lamina A microscopic slide is called a "lamina". "Corte laminar" is a section of tissue mounted on a slide for microscopic examination.
Karen Marston (asker) May 25, 2020:
I think that following the colon it is a list of what needs to be included in the inspection so the items are not necessarily connected to each other.
Muriel Vasconcellos May 25, 2020:
The text is confusing The way it's written, "corte laminar" appears to come under "macroscopic observation", when in fact the part that starts with "corte" is referring to microscopic examinations.

The importance of lymph nodes in livestock post-mortem inspection
Some lymph nodes and tissues need to be incised so that the internal portions can be
observed. The incision technique is critical. First, the cut edges must be smooth, not
ragged or torn. Otherwise, the lesions of certain important diseases are difficult to
detect. Lymph nodes should be sliced in thin parallel slices to expose the body of the
node. Tuberculosis lesions, some abscesses, and other conditions are exposed by
incision of lymph nodes. The wrist rolling motion that you will learn from your mentor
permits you to observe both sides of the slice
Peer comment(s):

neutral Muriel Vasconcellos : "Thin" and "thick" are further specifications of slide sections. A thin-sliced section of lymph nodes would be "thick" on a slide compared with a smear or blood or other fluid.

In a generalized condition, the animal's defense mechanisms are unable to stop the spread of the disease process by way of the circulatory or lymphatic systems. The lymph nodes of the carcass should be examined if pathological lesions are generalized. Some of the signs of a generalized disease are:
