Discussion

Leif Ohman Aug 3, 2020:
Definition of "pelarnos", plus a drawing "ände på pelare vid tunnelförgrening och tunnelpåslag"

JaneD Aug 3, 2020:
Sounds like... ...it's in a tunnel?
Deane Goltermann Aug 3, 2020:
Isthis past a bridge, or is it inside a tunnel as in the document I just finished? Pier nose works for bridge supports, but not for tunnel columns.
Paul Lambert (asker) Aug 3, 2020:
Surprised Indeed I did find a relevant link for "pier nose" concerning bridge construction. It seemed a bit too directly translated at first, but there it is. However, I might want to find another term since I have been using "column" for "pelare" so far and "pier" in those contexts would not make sense.

buttress

I had to translate this recently in a couple of different sets of specifications and found "buttress" as an approved translation somewhere online. This made sense at the time but of course I haven't made a note of where I got it from and can't now find it...
