Spanish term

Salomónico

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Manufacturing Pharmaceutical packaging specs
Fuente: "Comprobar que está montado el Salomónico correspondiente" (The machine it should be connectected to is an "estuchadora" [cartoner])

My translation: "Check that the corresponding Salomónico is attached"

This is part of a checklist for monitoring a pharmacuetical packaging process, specifically for blister packs of capsules. I can't find any relevant references for this word either in English or Spanish.

OK
Helena Chavarria Sep 7, 2020:
It might be a spiral conveyor, though I'm only guessing.

Other potential variations include a P3200 cartoner with dual stacking devices, integration of a printer from HAPA for online printing of lidstock, various dosing systems (brush box, roller dosing, automatic spiral conveyor, or dedicated feeder) and choice of roller or platen sealing.

Hi Mary, Thanks for your comment! This certainly would make the most sense to me. Checking that a specific screw was installed did not seem to make sense given the types of checks that were otherwise needed - that seems more like a maintenance job. Hopefully the client can shed some light on this.
Mary Gardner Hume Sep 6, 2020:
Solomonic Salomónico as we know is Solomonic in English. Since Salomónico in Spanish usually means to split something evenly, like a win win, perhaps the Solomonic is the name of the equipment or refers to equipment that equally divides and feeds the blister packs into the packaging (estuche). Inspiration for your search!

Note from asker:
Thanks for the answer BigEdSenior! Auger does seem like a viable option here. I would still like further specification from the client, but wouldn't we all!

It might be a sort of screw.

The Solomonic column, also called Barley-sugar column, is a helical column, characterized by a spiraling twisting shaft like a corkscrew. It is not associated with a specific classical order, although most examples have Corinthian or Composite capitals. But it may be crowned with any design, for example, making a Roman Doric solomonic or Ionic solomonic column.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solomonic_column

'Salomónico' must refer to the thread of whatever it is.

Hi Helena, Thank you! I went with Salomonic screw with a note to check with the client on the meaning in this specific machine. I appreciate your help!

agree philgoddard : I found a couple of references where it was used for putting caps on bottles, so this may be the right idea.

I don't know about you but I've never heard of a solomonic screw. It sounds like a translation. It's probably a worm screw. Thank you, José

In addition to what Helena has already provided, except her first link says "Solomonic". (column). I don't know if this is the same thing. One is "Solomonic" and links below refer to "salomonic".

"Salomonic" is what the links say, but there must be a better word for this, except I have no idea what "salomonic" is supposed to mean?

Solomonic (Salomonic) column
A **spirally fluted or shaped column**, commonly believed to derive from Solomon’s Temple. First in use in about 1300 (but this relates to architecture).

https://www.encyclopedia.com/education/dictionaries-thesauru...
Solomonic column. Barley-sugar, Salomonic, Salomónica, spiral, torso or twisted column, with a contorted or twisted shaft, unlike the Antonine, triumphal, or Trajanic column with its spiral band of sculpture wound around it. (Again architecture).

I just wonder if it just refers to type of twisting cap as alluded to by Helena and Phil?

However, hopefully your client can shed more light on this, and it would be interesting and certainly glossary worthy to add this term.
Note from asker:
Thanks Taña! Good point on Salomónico vs. Solomonic. It does appear these are the Spanish/English equivalents. Still, I too feel there should be a better word than Solomonic!
