A website reference mentions 'caves à cables'. I assume it's in connection with energy supplies and distribution from cabins which are constructed by specific formula. Could someone explain what they are, explain the reference?

| The cellar vaults might represent power sub stations and local generators but pits or troughs might be alternative descriptions. I might write a gloss which includes all of cellars, vaults, cabins, pits and troughs. |

: Cable vault or cellar is quite better, conveying the same as the German "Kabelkeller" and the French term « cave à câbles ». I hesitate to use 'cable through' or 'cable trench' in this case. Veuillez faire la distinction entre « cave et tranchée ».

I personally differ between throughs, pits and vaults (cellars). In this case the vault serves for introducing a cable from a cable through or cable trench (caniveau à câbles, tranchée) into the distribution cabinet. 'cable pit' is slighty better, even it reminds me a shaft or manhole (puit ou trou d'homme).

The other reference is to Reiden, a place in Switzerland which mentions a factory where similar concrete protection for cable vaults are made, and might be either on the ground or partially underground.
Adapted concrete supports or substrates are available for each cable cellar. For the formats of the cubed blocs, the cable passage increases to 20cm. For the implementation of the supports, the foundation slabs made on site must be concreted to a level of 30cm.'
