español term

una razon notarial

español al inglés Jurídico/Patentes Derecho: (general) MT translation (Costa Rican dialect)
I'm doing some MT editing from Spanish to English and it's talking about a notary public. Here's the context:

El documento fue firmado por XXXXX en su condición de EVP, Chief Financial Officer y se acompaña una razón notarial de la Notario Público CXXXX del Condado de XXXX, Estado de Texas, que es luego consularizada y legitimada conforme con la Ley (ver copias certificadas del expediente en Documento N° XX).

The document was signed by XXXXX, in his capacity as EVP, Chief Financial Officer and is accompanied by a notary reason from public notary XXXXX of XXXXy, State of Texas, which is then consularized and legitimized under the Act (see certified copies of the file in Document No. XX).

Supporting Documentation for Changes & Corrections
In addition to a signed, notarized amendment form, a copy of acceptable identification (ID), and payment, you must provide the required supporting documentation when changing or correcting a vital record. You must also be a person qualified to make a change or correction.

The last step in executing the amendment is to attach the notarized amendment form to the original trust documents. Keep these documents in a safe place. If you filed the original trust with the county, be sure to file the amendment in that same county as well.

Example sentence:

A completed and notarized amendment request on the applicable form as follows.

agree Adrian MM. : At our Central London translation office-cum-notarial practice, it had been called a notarised alteration or interlineation rather than a 'footnote' https://www.proz.com/kudoz/spanish-to-english/law-general/12...

notarial authentication / notarial certification

In my experience translating notarizations, "razón" is a formality that refers to a notarial authentication or certification. I would avoid using the term amendment, because - in English - "amendment" means a substantive modification of the terms of the main document.

Looking at the context here, we have a document signed by the company's CFO - and it's clear that the signature was notarized. The notarization doesn't alter the terms of the main document, nor is it meant to correct errors. It's just an authentication of the CFO's signature.
