Italian term

ciclo

Italian to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting art history
Hi collegues,

I have this term that keeps cropping up: ciclo. Sometimes it's used for one decoration/painting, other times it's used for a few decorations (done at the same time?). Could you help me out? Here is the context:

L’arma, infatti, appare eccezionalmente complessa."

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (2): Barbara Carrara, philgoddard

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

cycle

I think it might be as simple as "cycle".

See https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q16905563
and, for an example of a "ciclo/cycle", see https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ciclo_di_Maria_de'_Medici and its English equivalent https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie_de'_Medici_cycle
Note from asker:
Yes, that is what I thought!

Some ideas. Maybe one of these terms will suit your context. Maybe even "historical series" would suit.

Thank you Enrica for letting me know my reply was useful for you. It's not possible to split points, but thanks for the thought :)
Note from asker:
I wanted to split the points between you and Marco, but I can't figure out how! Thanks, your answer also works in some parts of the document
