All the above factors which take place in winter may lead shortly to a blockade of the railroad switch, i.e. make its switching impossible. In order to provide the operation of railroad switches in winter, the following important elements of the railroad switch are heated: stock-rails - obligatorily, slide chairs - obligatorily, switch blades - optionally, point locks - optionally, under-lock channels - optionally, movable obtuse crossings - obligatorily.
