French term

Déclencheur

French to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering Hotel safety features
this term (in an insurance claim document) simply appears among a list of features under "Moyens de secours existant" in a Paris hotel and includes the following 4 items:

Extincteurs
Déclencheur
Robinet d'incendie armé
Porte coupe-feu

Could this refer to an "alarm system" of some sort? Would "smoke detectors" ever be referred to simply as "déclencheurs"? that actuate or trigger an alarm?

manual call point (MCP)

It's the standard little red square fire alarm point that you 'break glass in case of fire'

Plenty of examples to be found on the 'Net, I'll leave you to research that for yourself!

I think you'll find MCP is a US term in the first place.
Note from asker:
Thanks Tony! I guess here in the States we'd call it "the Fire Alarm Box" or something like that.

In order to find the possible terms, simply enter the expression in Wikipedia and switch to the English-language sister page.

both French articles are linked to the following English articles:

A fire alarm system warns people when smoke, fire, carbon monoxide or other fire-related emergencies are detected. These alarms may be activated automatically from smoke detectors, and heat detectors or may also be activated via
Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : Unlike in FR, not generally referred to as 'detectors' in EN, since they don't actually 'detect' anything themselves. 'Pull station' may be the US term Timothy was looking for. This type and term not widely used in the UK.

Manual fire alarm box / Manual pull station

Per standards and information detailed on the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) website. NFPA is an international, nonprofit resource. Depending on the standard or article presented therein, "Manual fire alarm box" and "Manual pull station" are interchangeable terms and the ones most frequently used. However, per NFPA 72 standard, "call point" is also an acceptable term.
Example sentence:

Manual Fire Alarm Box. The term box is currently the term used by building codes and nationally recognized testing laboratories. They are also called manual fire alarm stations, pull stations, and call points.
