The individual who assumes the role of ministro de fe depends on the jurisdiction. By way of example, in Chile, a certificado de matrimonio is signed (= certified) by the incumbent Jefe de archivo general of the Servicio de Registro Civil e Identificación, which is dependent on the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.
