sí, bien podría ser también supervisor, lo que está claro es que en este contexto se refiere a un cargo, interesante, no tenía clara esa acepción de -tender-.

Para -log bin- después de darle muchas vueltas quizá optaría por -estación de almacenamiento- (?). Creo que se puede formular de muchas formas.

¿Supervisor? En la línea de lo que comentas sobre que tender es "one who tends something", igual estaría bien traducir tender por "supervisor". En cuanto a "log bin" opino igual, "contenedor de troncos".

responsable de contenedor de troncos por lo que veo los "log bins" son estos "contenedores" entre las distintas máquinas/operaciones, el tender creo que sería aquí quien "tends" o cuida de algo:
