The Lost Again Shelter, a multi-component rock art site (LA 162411) in the Guadalupe Moun-tains of southern New Mexico ...The ceiling overhang extends out a couple of meters and provides good protection from the weather, including direct sunlight and rain.

This rock shelter is located alongside the Drysdale River, in a low
escarpment (Fig. 4). The shelter is 8 m long and 2.5 m high. This shelter
has mostly IIA depictions, with the presence of other rock art motifs,
which are difficult to place in a style schema, due to their poor preservation. The art at DRY017 is found on two panels: Panel 1, an inner
vertical panel; and Panel 2, located on the main ceiling overhang.

Here it's translated as "awning", but overhang seems to be more popular:

Hornopunta es un paredón con una plataforma interna y visera.
Hornopunta show a wall with an internal platform and an awning.

Thanks, Neil, I wasn't keen on the awning translation. An "abrigo" is a rock shelter it seems https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_shelter

hood mould

My Alcaraz technical dictionary suggests "larmier", which is French. "Dripstone" is another suggestion from Wikipedia...

NB: If it is a natural feature rather than something designed/moulded/constructed, then "overhang" (Pax Marie) seems more appropriate.
