Spanish term

Deshabillés y picardías

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Textiles / Clothing / Fashion Clothing/wholesale/retail
SPAIN. This pair appears in a list of EDI software strings for a clothing company. From what I've managed to glean, "picardías" is similar to "salto de cama", but I'm not sure how to translate that of the top of my head either. And I know that "Deshabillés" means undressed in French, so I have my suspicions, but would like them confirmed, to untwist my knickers, so to speak.
Proposed translations (English)
3 +1 negligees (or négligées) and babydolls

Discussion

neilmac (asker) May 25, 2023:
Helena I've already used 'lingerie' for another heading, so I'll probably just go with 'babydoll' despite my 21st-century misgivings. Pax Ana, 'peignoir' is an interesting option, but would many English speakers able to pronounce it/know what it is? And from the images online, it seems to be a longer garment, less flimsy than the others.
O G V May 25, 2023:
Helena Chavarria May 25, 2023:
If you're sure that the 'picardías' are worn in bed, then sensual/romantic sleepwear would do the trick.
Helena Chavarria May 25, 2023:
I would translate it as 'négligées and sensual/romantic lingerie'. I associate baby dolls with the 1970s!
Ana Vozone May 25, 2023:
@Neil I found this in a fashion dictionary that I have (Langenscheidt)

Peignoir: French word for a loose trimmed dressing gown made in sheer fabric for the boudoir - compare bthrobe. (pref.) - négligée (French word fr a lighter, more delivate loose robe).

I search Picardia on amazon.es and got his:

neilmac (asker) May 25, 2023:
@Ana Although that seems to be the suggestion, I don't want to be so explicit! It seems they still use "babydoll" nowadays, although it seems rather icky...
abe(L)solano May 25, 2023:
Lingerie! Not transportation! - I think both refer to Negligees
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negligee#:~:text=The negligee ...

And definitively, way more kinky than "salto de cama"
Ana Vozone May 25, 2023:
Sexy / Sensual homewear perhaps?

A babydoll is a short, sleeveless, loose-fitting nightgown or negligee, intended as nightwear for women. It sometimes has formed cups called a bralette for cleavage with an attached, loose-fitting skirt falling in length usually between the belly button and upper thigh. The garment is often trimmed with lace, ruffles, appliques, marabou, bows, and ribbons, optionally with spaghetti straps. Sometimes it is made of sheer or translucent fabric such as nylon or chiffon or silk.

Note from asker:
OK, but "babydoll" sounds very sixties to me, I don't know if they still use the term today....
"Negligées" was on the tip of my tongue, but I got it mixed up with "lingerie". Thanks for the help!
