Could very well be! I didn't find a proverb or biblical reference to explain the saying (didn't search long this time, though) but I think that Martina's suggestion would've been good enough. Unfortunately, the Q is now closed.

hour/שעה Björn's suggestion sounds good to me, in Hebrew "hour" is "sha'a" (שעה), corresponding to the alternative spelling mentioned by Björn's reference, "schaah". The A sounds in Hebrew are often O sounds in Yiddish, e.g. Shabbat > Shabbos, so "hour" seems like a good translation.

Cf. "Sprichwörter und Redensarten deutsch-jüdischer Vorzeit..." (p. 261) by Abraham M. Tendlau on GBooks. The author of that book also lists "schaah" as an alternative spelling, I guess, for "Stunde" (which may be easier to look for online).

Unfortunately, since I need to work today too, I'm a bit preoccupied and can't think of anything suitable right now. But maybe this helps.

I was not able to find references for the term “Schoh,” however, I think she basically says, “we believe it, when we see it/when the other “shoe” drops. I believe at least that’s implied. :-)
