I am not sure if this is simply a descriptive phrase or a specific object. The text describes the work of Argentine painter Romulo Macció. The names in Italian art titles of paintings
La Fontana di Trevi es piedra que se licúa, el Castel dell’Ovo es piedra que se ha vuelto destellos de oro, y así sucesivamente. Entonces, evocamos los “estados de la materia”, aquellos pasajes de lo sólido a lo líquido, de lo líquido a lo vaporoso.
Simply gold sparks?

glows gold
The author is talking about stone in different paintings being depicted as something different. In the first it is depicted as liquid, in the second, glittery and golden. It's just how you word this to sound natural and include 'se ha vuelto' and the idea of 'destello' being a flash of light that comes and goes.
Resplandor vivo y efímero, ráfaga de luz que se enciende y amengua o apaga casi instantáneamente. DRAE
So I suggest to get the ball rolling.... the stone glows gold. This is elegant and neat and would pair well with 'the stone becomes/is liquid' in the first painting referred to but I do feel that I have slightly lost the 'se ha vuelto'. Although 'glitters gold', 'twinkles gold' or 'sparkles gold' all better reflect the idea of light coming and going, I feel that 'glows gold' actually reflects what is in the painting.

: I think this must be the meaning, though it looks like a rather muddy mustard colour on my screen.

I think you have to include the idea of transformation, since the text insists on it (liquid to solid, etc. and literally 'se ha vuelto a' = turned into). That's why you'd have to say "turns to" or similar. Flashes of gold is just another suggestion along the same lines, though I'd be inclined to follow the source text's transformation idea more closely by translating it as: "stone that has turned to glimmering gold dust" / "stone that has turned to glinting gold" / or even, pushing it a bit here, "stone liquefied into gleaming gold"

But I'm not sure what the whole sentence means. Here's the picture, for what it's worth:

I can't see any sparks or sparkles of gold.
