From an obituary in the Österreichischer Buch- und Steindrucker, a trade publication in Vienna, dated July 10, 1934:
"So war er denn ganz der Mann, dem man ein sehr schwieriges Amt anvertrauen konnte. Im Jahre 1896 wurde er zum Vorstandsmitglied der damaligen Gremialkrankenkasse gewählt und nach dieser Feuerprobe 1898 in den Gremialvorstand berufen."

This is clearly the name of an organisation (a health insurance fund), so it should not be translated unless the organisation is also commonly known by the English translation, e.g., Bread for the World for Brot für die Welt. Depending on the expected readership of the English translation, it may be helpful to provide an English translation in brackets. Having checked out the meaning of "gremial", I suggest "Friends Health Insurance Fund" (cf. Friends Provident).

| In the meantime, I established that in 1930s Vienna, a "Gremium" was a "trade association." Thus, the "Gremialkrankenkasse" was roughly a "trade association's sick fund." It wasn't a proper noun, since the name of the trade association was actually "Wiener Buchdruckergremium," i.e. "Book Printers' Trade Association of Vienna" (or something along those lines). Gremium is also a guild, Herbst -> a modern-day Zunft in Austria and this fund - to my knowledge and from my own membership of a Vienna *Non-Guild* but area-wide Gebietskrankenkasse - would be known these days as a Gesundheitskrankenkasse.
Formerly insured with Bradford-founded Friends' Provident back in Blighty, England, I am unsure the asker in the USA would use this term, but I stand corrected.

Not sure which EN variant you need. Also, I don't see why the German needs to be retained, considering there was more than one of these GKKs, right? At least, from what I've seen.

We did have something similar in Germany:
