French term

chanfrein extrêmal

French to English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering quick connectors
Context:
Du côté externe de l’élément mâle 10, la portion distale 16 comprend, à mesure que l’on s’éloigne de l’embouchure 18 vers l’arrière de l’élément mâle 10, une paroi annulaire 20, un chanfrein extrêmal 21, une première portion cylindrique 22, une collerette 24, et une deuxième portion cylindrique 26.

PR of patent application. I am used to finding new words, but actually believe that the person writing this has picked odd words out of the air just to impress people. The translator hpwever has picked out a variety of words.
Within the same paragraph I have; extreme, end, extremal
My preferred choice would be "end".
Other suggestions would be most welcome.
TIA Chris.

bevelled end

"Chanfrein" is clear enough: a "chamfer" or "bevel", ie., an angled edge.
"Extremal" could be due to machine-reading of a printed text. Or else, as you say, somebody's been making stuff up.
Note from asker:
Thank you. Even with patents, a bit of simple language, understood by everybody, does not go amiss.

neutral Jennifer Levey : But item 21 is not at the 'end' of anything - it is the second of five items.

forward / leading bevel

Depending on how many different bevels need to be differentiated.

See ideas below (where I should really have included more internal bevels for good measure).

Thank you for both suggestions and diagram.
Thank you, but eventually went for the other choice.
