French term

comparé

French to English Tech/Engineering Nuclear Eng/Sci Control systems
Context:

Still with PR task and this section which is repeated several times but for different alarms has been translated in a variety of ways.

At the moment I have:
comparative flow threshold comparator 102 for emitting the comparative flow deviation signal ECDC,

Elsewhere it is translated as "compared". So, choice is between compared and comparative.
TIA for suggestions, Chris.

comparative

Of your two options, my vote is for 'comparative' for two reasons: 1) it is easier on the ear, and 2° I found it in a nuclear-related text.

It's a comparative threshold trip type system. Maybe there are some timers put in there, a square root here or there, some things like that, but there is really not a lot of control systems with feedback that can get us into multiple developed states within the system that could do unpredictable things.

Presumably the first two threshold comparators compare a measured flowrate to predetermined thresholds (upper and lower) at which alarms are triggered. It would be interesting to know what the débit comparé is compared to, if it is not the same thresholds. I see comparé qualifying débit in both cases.

alarm-threshold-comparator
The comparator enum for threshold evaluation on this alarm. Comparators are comparision operators used to evaluate conditions at runtime using the threshold values and current value of the targeted metric.

The reference voltage 106 is also applied across a diode 110 to a reference input 112 of the comparator (first threshold comparator) 104. The voltage at the reference input 112 is equal to the first threshold 52. A resistor 114 connects the reference input 112 to ground. The output of comparator (second threshold comparator) 102 is a second threshold signal 116 that is coupled to the time comparator circuit 118. The output of comparator 104 is a first threshold signal 120 that is coupled to the time comparator circuit 118. https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/42/b3/a2/154ac15...

The first "comparé": comparative, the second: compared.

My proposed translation:
"a comparative flow threshold comparator 102 for transmitting the compared flow difference signal ECDC."
The first "comparé" refers to the comparator, the second to the signal.
Note from asker:
Thanks. I`ll have a look after lunch and a well earned Siesta.
