rollout period
Motor vehicles, rather than clinical trials, and offending pupils at UK schools are 'run in' (reported / shopped).
The individual clinical study as well as the program/me generally can be 'rolled out'.
Intuitively, rodaje looks like a back-translation of roll-out.

For example, TSOS used a novel Rapid Assessment Procedure, based on clinical ethnographic mixed methods, for making clinically relevant observations of trial rollout.

Hi Neil,
Based on the short paragraph you've provided, it seems to be clear to me that study was already completed, so I think the option I'm suggesting just makes sense. I must admit I've never seen the word "rodaje" with regards to clinical trials before.
It also seems the subjects took the study drug and experienced serious side effects ("ataques"), so it is evident they were not in any "preparation" (lead-in) phase.
Anyway, there are quite a few things to think about here.
I hope you'll find my contribution useful anyway.

: I'm assuming the 'ataques' are something like asthma or epilepsy, not side effects.

We don't know for sure what kinds of "ataques" they were, but the source text might imply that they were drug related.

run-in period
run-in period
run-in period (o lead-in period). [Exp.] ● active run-in period o active lead-in period (período de rodaje con tratamiento activo), placebo run-in period o placebo lead-in period (período de rodaje con placebo).

: As your reference shows, this is a synonym of patinba's answer.

During the run-in period, all patients receive the same intervention, for example, active treatment, placebo treatment or no intervention. Patients are excluded due to, for example, noncompliance to treatment or data collection, non-response to treatment or response to placebo.
