On parle ici d'une technique et je pense que quand on dit "temps mort", le fait qu'il y ait après une reprise (ou un temps de travail) est sous entendu.

"Time in-time out" was first used by Barrows at McMaster to enhance small group teaching. By calling a "time out," the interview was "put on hold," allowing the students an opportunity to discuss among themselves any number of issues that had arisen in the encounter as well as to brainstorm where they might like to take the interview when they went back to "time in" with the simulated patient.

Comme les "standardized patients" sont des acteurs, je suggère "au jeu" plutôt que "reprise". Mais ce n'est qu'une suggestion. J'ai plusieurs amis qui sont des acteurs amateurs et qui sont souvent embauchés comme patients "standard" mais ils travaillent tous en anglais seulement.
