FRESH AIR TRAINING

All fresh air jobs must be approved by the Project Manager/Lead Person, who will oversee every aspect of the job.

All workers must be trained in the use of fresh air equipment before performing *fresh air work*. This training is good for twelve months only. All supervisors / lead person having workers needing fresh air training should contact the superintendent as soon as possible to schedule classes and ensure full compliance.

FRESH AIR CHECK LISTS

The fresh air check list, properly used, can greatly reduce the risks associated with fresh air work. The check list serves as a good reminder to insure that the job has been well planned.

Always fill out the check list completely before beginning work. Take the time to personally verify each item on the list. Never assume anything. Never try to take shortcuts or make up time on a fresh air job. The few minutes you may or may not gain are not worth the risk involved. Always discuss emergency actions and evacuations in the pre-job meeting. When something goes wrong, everyone needs to know what to do without being told. What is obvious to you may not be so obvious to everyone else. Work that is off ground level and is immediately dangerous to life requires a rescue plan which must be approved by the superintendent prior to the job. The Project Manager must sign the check list for these jobs.

REMEMBER, THE CHECKLIST SERVES ONE MAIN PURPOSE, TO MAKE THE JOB AS SAFE AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE.
