Does it mean that the study is being carried out in the churches?

Not "in" the churches I think and that's not how I would interpret Jenni's answer. It's more likely that the churches cooperated, for example by expressing their support and/or allowing their members to be approached to participate in the study.

hello, and thanks. This is a power point and there's no more information available. But I have asked the onw who wrote it and he told me that the study was carried out in local churches. Jenni is right!! thanks both of you

More context? Is there any further description somewhere in your document of the study methods, and any further mention of the churches? If there is, that will give you useful information ... and should be shared here so people can give you a more accurate answer. To me, it sounds like the study is using subjects drawn from the local churches .. but more information would help confirm this.
