French term
sous-entrepositaire
French to English
Bus/Financial
Law: Taxation & Customs
In a Contrat d'Entreposage, company xxxxxxxx is the Déposant, company yyyyyy is the Dépositaire.
It then says that
Par le présent contrat, xxxx, Déposant, devient sous-entrepositaire de la société yyyyyyyyy immatriculée sous le n° de sous entrepositaire ****** , confie au Dépositaire yyyyyyyyyyy l’entreposage de ses produits.
I am confused here...can anyone explain the relationship?
Many thanks

sub-consignee
In an EU tax/customs context, the registered warehouse is a "tax warehouse", and the natural or legal person that operates it is a "consignee" or "warehousekeeper" (sic). If there are two levels of consignment, the goods wind up in the keeping of a sub-consignee.
"Depositary" has a similar basic meaning, but it's not the term actually used in this context. In particular, AllegroTrans' reference to the AIFM directive, regarding fund depositaries and sub-depositaries, is a bum steer. That's about safekeeping of tradable securities, not merchandise subject to excise tax.
