Ο Ναπολέων είχε κερδίσει αμέτρητες παρτίδες με αυτό το τέχνασμα και έγινε διάσημος γι’ αυτό. Σήμερα η ιδέα του έχει γίνει τόσο γνωστή, ώστε πολλοί το ονομάζουν «ματ των αρχαρίων» ή ακόμα και «ματ του βοσκού», δηλαδή το ξέρουν ακόμα και όσοι ζουν απομονωμένοι πάνω στα βουνά!
