It's difficult to be sure without the full sentence. However, in every theatre I've ever worked in or performed in here, 'zacenie' seems to refer to the entire area - wings (kulisy), the back area of the stage (behind the scenery) etc. - in other words, 'backstage'.
There's also 'behind the scenes' - but, as always, everything depends on the context.

: this was my first thought too, although backstage can have somewhat wider meaning, including dressing rooms etc. See the link I put in Ask Asker

Yes,indeed it can and does.That's why I made the point that it's difficult without the sentence. However, it is used to refer to the entire stage area that's hidden from the audience's view. Thank you :-)
