Comisaría Provincial de Malaga

I am translating the green registration certificate for EU citizens and the 'Comisaria Provincial de Malaga' seems to be the office that deals with this. Suggestions gratefully received!

Discussion

Kate Warren (asker) Sep 10, 2017:
Further context to question Thank you for your kind responses.

Tom - the context is (forgive my lack of accents, I can't seem to insert them on proz):

'CERTIFICADO DE REGISTRO DE CIUDADANO DE LA UNION

// EL ENCARGADO DEL REGISTRO CENTRAL DE EXTRANJEROS EN LA COMISARIA PROVINCIAL DE MALAGA

// CERTIFICA: que ...'

This is what appears at the top of the green residency form.

I have translated this as:-

'CERTIFICATE OF RESIDENCE FOR FOREIGNERS

// THE REPRESENTATIVE FOR THE CENTRAL REGISTER FOR FOREIGNERS AT THE PROVINCIAL POLICE STATION IN MALAGA

// CERTIFIES THAT: ...'

I can see this is not ideal as I would imagine that there is more than one police station in Malaga.

I have understood from my reading that to get this certificate, you just need to go to the police station and not necessarily a police headquarters so I have left the translation as is.

With thanks again to all.

Any further advice gratefully received.

@Marie Depends if it's the main one [headquarters] or if there may be multiple offices [police station] in the police precinct.
Marie Wilson Sep 9, 2017:
I have one of these certificates; they are only issued by the Policía Nacional and for mine I had to go to the province capital, 50lm away. Would that be the headquarters then?
Thomas Walker Sep 8, 2017:
Context, please Kate, I see that you are a new poster, so you may not already have seen my request, which I seem to be posting frequently: Please give us more context, as much as possible. Give the complete sentence in which the phrase occurs, plus at least one sentence before & after. It will help people responding to your question to have the right idea about what the ST means.
In your question here, for example, there is some uncertainty in the answers proposed as to whether "Comisaria" means "police headquarters", or perhaps a much smaller facility, a "police station". Context might help to resolve this issue.
Thanks.

Malagna Provincial Police Headquarters

Note the difference between police headquarters and police station. The former would be the main one of the police precinct.

If it was a police station, then there would be other police stations in the police precinct, which I don't is the case.
Note from asker:
Thank you for this suggestion. I opted for 'Malaga Police Station' in the end as I am told that to get your foreigner's residency certificate, you just need to go to a regular police station.
Ah - OK - so it would have been the police headquarters otherwise they would have had to have put more detail to differentiate between police stations?

agree Alison Imms : But without the extra "n" in Malaga!
