I have a degree in Danish, but am a practical linguist, not an academic. I have an intimate knowledge of Denmark and its culture. I also speak speak fluent Norwegian, German and reasonably good Swedish. My favourite language is Brazilian Portuguese, which I am working on. I play samba in my spare time.
I started life as a freelance translator in the mid-80s, working for the Copenhagen correspondent of the FT and The Economist. Moved on the to the national press agency Ritzau and Reuters.
I translated [Danish statistician] Bjorn Lomborg's book The Skeptical Environmentalist and other clients have included central government, the Danish state railways, a mojor music publisher (music tutors), craftsmen, and the tourist industry. I have translated a book on traditional painting and decorating methods and a play (absurd theatre).
I work for several agencies and have numerous individual clients. |
