Op 23 augustus jl. hebben wij de firma YYY Nederland BV benaderd in het kader van de bedrijfskleding. Tijdens dat gesprek mochten wij een prijsindicatie afgeven voor diepvrieskleding. Al snel kregen wij van u een positieve reactie en zijn wij meteen overgegaan tot het maken van een afspraak.
De eerste afspraak heeft op 11 september plaatsgevonden om nader kennis te maken en uw wensen te bespreken. Met de door u aangegeven wensen en informatie zijn wij gestart met het uitzoeken van mogelijke producties of standaard artikelen die geschikt zijn voor het werken in vriescellen.
In een tijdbestek van 6 weken is er een nieuwe afspraak gemaakt om de mogelijkheden van XXX Bedrijfskleding voor te leggen. Hieruit is gebleken dat de voorkeur uit gaat naar een standaard artikel van XXX Bedrijfskleding, omdat deze beschikken over een hoogwaardige kwaliteit en beschikbaarheid van leveranties.
Met als bovengenoemde uitgangspunt als basis is er besloten om voor de gepresenteerde artikelen een voorstel te schrijven voor levering van kleding t.b.v. de vestigingen Tilburg en Hoogeveen. Na goedkeuring van het voorstel zal er een testfase van 3 weken gehanteerd worden om te controleren of de aangeboden artikelen voldoen aan de huidige werkomstandigheden. De test zal primair de levering voor Tilburg en Hoogeveen beslissen en mogelijk ook een verder traject voor de hele Benelux.
Het voorstel is samengesteld uit afbeeldingen, technische specificaties, certificaat EN normering, condities en de prijsstelling. Daarnaast word er omschreven welke mogelijkheden wij u kunnen bieden voor levering en het logistieke traject.
Wij vertrouwen er op u hiermee een uitnodigend voorstel te hebben gepresenteerd en wachten met grote belangstelling af op uw reactie.

August 23rd we have approached YYY Nederland BV, with respect to special professional clothing. During the initial discussion we have provided a price indication for special clothing for use in deep-freeze storage rooms. Very soon we received a positive reaction and subsequently we have made a follow-up appointment.
This next discussion was arranged for September 11th with the purpose to further introduce ourselves and to discuss your requirements. Based on these requirements and additional information we have investigated possible productions or standard articles suitable for work in deep-freeze storage rooms.
Within 6 weeks after that another appointment has been made to review the possibilities of XXX Bedrijfskleding. The outcome of this discussion was a preference for standard items from the XXX Bedrijfskleding series, as these are of high quality and of high continuous availability.
Based on the above and the clothing articles presented, it was agreed to produce a proposal for delivery of clothing to the locations Tilburg and Hoogeveen. It was furthermore decided that upon basic agreement a test period of three weeks will be inserted in order to verify that the articles comply with the current circumstances of the work. Based on this test it will be determined delivery to locations Tilburg and Hoogeveen will be decided and additionally whether the articles will possibly be deployed for the whole of the Benlux.
The proposal consists of graphic material, technical specifications, certificate EN norms, delivery and other conditions and pricing information. Also we will indicate what we can offer with respect to delivery and logistical support.

Source text - English 1.3 Pickguards
When buying pickguards watch the correct Trem (vintage tremolo fit) and PU configuration SSS, HSS etc and the right number of screw holes. Most common are 8 (vintage) and 11 hole (regular).
If you buy a pickguard off the market separately from the body it is absolutely guaranteed that one or more screw holes will NOT match those in the body. Not too much of a problem if you are prepared to drill a few holes AND fill the unused holes (cocktail stickers and sate sticks make great prefab dowls),

Als je een slagplaat koopt kijk dan naar de juiste tremolo uitsparing (vintage, FR enzo), de juiste pickup uitsparingen (SSS, HSS enzo) en het juiste aantal schroefgaatjes. Het meeste zie je 11 en ook wel 8 (vintage of RI).
Als je een slagplaat apart koopt dan is er 1 garantie: niet alle schroefgaten zullen passen. Je zal dus moeten boren en ongebruikte gaten vullen (advies!). Voor vullen kan je heel goed cocktail prikkers of sate stokjes gebruiken.

After a 35 year career in Shell, where 99% of the business was - and still is - conducted in English - I retired at the age of 60. In that period I managed several groups of people, from IT project and development groups to large operational departments - all requiring large amounts of reporting and creative proposals to management and others in English and occasionally in Dutch.
On retirement the first thing I did was to realize a long due dream. I set up a small company to build guitars and to write books about the process of building. As in Shell I was used to writing in English this is what I did with my books. I found out rapidly that the English version of the books sold fine in the US, but the Dutch target population refused to buy.
So subsequently I translated (rewrote) the first book in Dutch. This worked fine. Also I produced the website http://www.guitarsrecycled.com in both languages - for the same reason. The actual building and selling of guitars is not a very attractive business proposition, due mainly to Dutch tax complexities, but the books sell reasonably well. There are two more in the pipeline at this moment. The books are available at www.lulu.com, a publish on demand company - not exactly cheap but requiring no pre-investment.
In the meantime I was looking for something to do next to writing books. A local acquaintance asked me to translate a business proposal to a Norwegian firm who insisted a proposal must be in English. This was completed in time and with positive result, not in the least as I was able - based on my previous management experience - to introduce quite some business improvements into the original Dutch text. I suddenly realised that I was developing an interest in languages in several ways.
Because of the above you will see the odd combination of IT oriented exposure as well as music - the latter aimed towards guitar building. My translations are not word-by-word, I aim to understand the content and then re-do that in Dutch (or vice versa).
Quite by coincidence I came upon this site and decided to give it a go as it offers a new challenge in life.
