English to French: TOURISM: City Guide about Seattle (Introduction)
Source text - English Had Dorothy landed in this modern-day Emerald City of Seattle, she might have taken a wide-eyed look around and said, “Wow, Toto! The heck with Kansas!”
In this local update of The Wizard of Oz, she would have turned left off the yellow brick road and gone for a run around Green Lake, a tree-lined jogging/strolling/people-watching jewel in the middle of the city, which “won” the Emerald City nickname in a tourism contest in the 1980s.
Later that day, Dorothy might have sent Auntie Em an e-mail to say she had just been hired as a project analyst at Microsoft and is putting a deposit on a new condo near the Pike Place Market, where she can pick up organic biscotti for her rock-climbing club’s vegetarian picnic: “The commute will be a drag, Auntie Em, but I can buy a hybrid if I cut back to one chai latte a day.”
