Adolescents living in low severity of conditions attended the Urban School and lived in municipalities in San Salvador. Adolescents from these areas lived in municipalities with high levels basic conditions (i.e percentage of homes with plumbing and electricity) and social and educational indicators. Some example indicators of these municipalities include:
• 6% (or less) of people live in poverty
• 98% (or more) of homes have toilets and plumbing
• 6% (or less) of young people aged 16 to 18 with primary school incomplete
• 15% (or less) of young people aged 16 to 18 not working, studying or looking for a job
HIGH SEVERITY OF CONDITIONS:
Generally adolescents living in severe conditions attended the Rural Schools and lived in municipalities in Morazán. Adolescents from these areas lived in municipalities that were moderate in terms of educational indicators; however, all adolescents from these schools came from municipalities with the following characteristics related to basic living conditions:
• 42% (or more) of people live in poverty
• 60% (or more) live without electricity
• 67% (or more) live with the an earthen floor
• 65% (or more) of homes are overcrowded
• $37.36 or less as the monthly household income (per capita)
